My Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow Collection

Hey all!!

Today we're talking about one of my all time favourite eye shadow formulas!

To get right to the point, MUFE's Artist Shadows are worth every penny (even if we don't have pennies anymore!!) of their $24 dollar price tag!

They are a super creamy, and dense/thick formula. They feel like a siliconey based formula if that gives you an idea as to their dense formula!!

I have oily, severely hooded eyes. and over top of my usual set eye primer (Too Faced Shadow Insurance, set with a matte cream shadow!) they do not crease, fade, or get muddy, by the end of the day! (I usually put my makeup on at 10am and take it off at 12am! just as a time frame for y'all!) The metallic/glittery ones DO transfer up onto my hood though!!

I own 5 of the finishes (I'm pretty sure they ONLY offer 5 finishes though!), ME, I, D, S, and M! D and ME are my favourites of the finishes as well.

These are amazingly easy to blend out! I'v always struggled with getting a smooth and even blend, and these are not an issue for me at all. I just do little circles in windshield wiper motions and they're blended out in no time with very little effort!

Hey all!!

I'm a highlight junkie. I love the look of a dewy, sheeny, cheek bone area; What can I say?

I like strong highlights. That's a personal preference. But each of these can be buffed and sheered out, except for two of them!!

My Custom Made Travel Palettes

Hey all!!

Longer term readers will know, I travel quite a bit. So I like to have magnetic bottom palettes ready, that I can just toss into my bag and not have to worry about singles, or finding a palette I can get a couple of looks out of!

First up we have my cheek pallet:

I have two makeup geek blushes in the top left corner (Soulmate and Romance!)  beside them I have a travel sized pan of my beloved Bela Bamba from Benefit (DC) Then the three shadows down the right edge are Coastal Scents Coral Blossom (Orangey/Coral), Coral Rose (More of a fushia pink than coral!) and MAC Cranberry (shimmery burgundy/red)

Then on the bottom left, is a shimmery bronzer from ELF, then two highlight shades the lighter one is from Coastal Scents it's called Lemon Chiffon, and then the gold beside it (my second all time favourite highlight!) is Make Up For Ever ME512.

I like the quality of all of these products. I find them to last on me, and they work well. If they didn't I wouldn't take them traveling haha.


Next up, we have my travel eye shadow palette:

This is a Colourpop 4 pan palette that I took tweezers to and took apart until I was left with a magnetic bottom palette!

Top row we have: Sephora Brand Swan Song (Matte white/light pink), Colourpop High Strung (rose gold metallic) Colorpop Take it slow (Shimmery off white/Champagne) A MUFE Artist shadow that I don't know the name of, It's in the First artist palette, Coastal Scents Barista (Matte warm brown)

Bottom row: A sample sized Lancome shadow (It's a shimmery copper) Colourpop Bel Air (Matte light brown) Colourpop Come and Get it (Pink base with gold duochrome) MAC Sumptuous Olive (golden olive shimmer) And two MUFE Artist shadows (One is a metallic taupe, and the other is a dupe for MAC's Woodwinked!)

That's my travel pallets! My first trip is coming up fast! So I'm looking forward to traveling with these!

Make Up For Ever (N1) Camouflage Cream Pallet Review

Hello friends!!

Today we're talking concealer! Specifically MUFE's concealer and corrector pallet, in the lightest shade!

I have good skin, I don't need foundation EVERY day. And most days, I use this palette and even out my skin and cover things that way!!

I'm VERY big on concealer, I like full coverage foundation, yes. But It still never covers my dark under eyes enough, nor does it cover my acne scarring on my cheeks fully. (Name a popular full coverage foundation, I'v most likely tried it, and it didn't cover how I wanted!)

But that doesn't bother me, I'm more of a thin, even, layer of foundation and then going back over and spot concealing kind of gal anyway!

I have the lightest shade in the line. And as you can see by the dips in them, I use the last three (the yellowy concealer, the orange corrector, and the minty green) the most!

I love this pallet, it is one of the BEST makeup investments I'v ever made.

On lazy days, I'll pat the minty green all over my cheeks, between my brows, and on any blemishes. I'll then dip into the orangey shade and pat that under my eyes, focusing it where i'm darkest, like my inner corners. I'll then pat loose powder all over to set the colour correctors, then I'll go in with the darkest concealer and swipe that onto my cheeks, forhead, nose, and chin and blend out. I'll take the second lightest concealer and use that under my eyes!!

Every cream in this palette is smooth, creamy, and blends like a dream. I was expecting them to feel like that MAC concealer in the pot? But these are so much easier to blend into the skin, and they are so much creamier and softer. Not creamy to the point of creasing intensely though!

Price: $49
Pros: It comes in 5 different shades, creamy, covers well, lasts all day.
Cons: Pricey! But worth it for myself.
Overal: 10/10

What's in my every day acrylic organizer?

I made two New Years resolutions this year, and one is to overhaul my messy bedroom! And to start that process I'm buying more organizers/containers/shelving to keep all of my stuff organized!

I purchased a Acrylic organizer, that hold's anything and everything I could ever need/want for day to day and MORE. 

I couldn't get a good picture of it, as it's shiny and see through so none of my shots were looking 'swell! But here's a from above shot of the organizer and the stuff I'm keeping inside of it!

In the very back two compartments I keep these primers! These are my every day primers, or primers i'm testing out! I of course, don't use every one of these every day. I DO switch out. 

From left to right we have:

MAC Radiance Yellow - "Radiance boosting primer" I like to use this after my sunblock, it's a lotion consistency, that smooths over the skin easily! 

Maybelline Baby Skin - "Pore Erasing primer" This is "just" a clear silicone primer. I was given it for christmas, so I'm testing it out right now. 

Benefit PoreFessional - "Pro Balm" This is a silicone primer that fills in pores, and helps keep my oily skin at bay!! So far I REALLY enjoy this primer!!

Make Up Forever Step 1 - "Matiffying primer" I'd have to google it, but I don't FEEL any silicones in this primer. But it's a creamy primer, that you PAT onto the skin to maximize the oil absorbing abilities!! I would recommend this for oily skinned people. MAYBE Combo, but ONLY used on oily areas! It WILL accentuate dry skin. 

The Estee Edit Pore Vanishing stick - This is a siliconey stick primer. It's clear on my skin tone. (I say this because I have not seen it applied on lovely dark skin tones!) And I really adore it! I was given a sample of it, and I fell in love. I swipe it onto my forehead, sides of my nose, and inner cheeks, then pat/blend it out with my fingers. It doesn't absorb oil, but it really smooths and preps my skin!

Too Faced Shadow Insurance - This is a super lightly peach tinted eye primer. I squeeze out the SMALLEST bit and pat it from lashline to browbone. I have super oily, and severely hooded eyes. And this is one of two eye primers I'v tried that actually keep my eye shadows from creasing! It dries to a stiff finish. So I like to take a eye shadow/face powder lighter than my skintone and set it so it's easier to blend eye shadow ontop of!

ELF Sheer eye primer - This is the second eye primer that i'v found to work on my oily lids! The ONLY reason I don't switch to this eye primer (This is $2, and the Too Faced one is $24) is, I go through about 5 of these a year. Where I'v had the same Too Faced eye primer for over 2 years now. But it's just as good as the Too Faced one!!

Foundations I keep in the container from left to right:

Make Up Forever Mat Velvet+ #40 - This is a hair too dark for me right now, as it oxidizes a whole shade one my skin. It's also too orangey for my lighter mid winter skin right now. But I like it for mixing! I love the finish of this foundation, so I'm keeping it, to bring out in the warmer months!

MAC Studio Fix Fluid SPF15 NC20 - This and the ELF foundation are my closest matches to my neck right now. It's a thick foundation, with pretty good coverage. I like to do a dot on each cheek, a dot on my forehead, and half of a dot on my nose and chin, then buff it out. It lasts so well on me, and it's the closest i'v gotten to matching my super prominent yellow undertones!

Physicians Formula Argan Wear BB Cream Light/Medium - This is a great FORMULA for Canadian winters, it's pretty dang moisturizing for my oily skin, and keeps my skin soft all day long! It's a touch orange for me, right now. But I just buff down my neck. It doesn't last as long on my face as foundations, but with face primer, and setting powder I can get pretty darn good wear!

ELF Flawless Finish Foundation Sand - This is my second best match right now! It's a hair not yellow enough, But It's not noticeable when I wear my hair down. It lasts all day, and is creamy and smooth!

Concealers I keep: 

Kat Von D Lock it Concealer Creme Light11 - This is a great concealer for quick days! it's super pigmented and blendable on my oily skin. I can use it as a foundation on lazy days as well! I just swipe it onto my cheeks, and dot it under my eyes and BAM good to go!

Make Up Forever Concealer/Corrector pallet #1 - I love the formula of these! They're super creamy for a potted concealer. And I love the two correcters!

Powders I use every day:

MAC Set Powder - I like to use this under my foundation to help absorb oil, and to set under my eyes! It's not heavy or cakey!

MAC Blot Powder Pressed Medium Dark - Despite this not being dark at ALL, I love this powder!! This is my second compact, and It's just as mattifying and great as the first!

Random Face stuff:

Sephora Brand Baked Luminizor 01 Stardust - My holy grail highlighter! This is my second compact of this, as I scraped out the first one. It's a beautiful yellow gold, that looks perfect on my yellow toned skin!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation Fair Light Honey - This is one of my favourite foundations!! |It's super thick, opaque, and yellow! I don't have the $51 plus tax to buy it right now. So I'm living out of a sample!

Urban Decay All nighter Foundation 2.0 - This is too light for me, but it oxidzes almost a full shade. I'm not a huge fan of how this looks on my skin. It's a bit cakey and patchy?

Colourpop Glitter Sheer eye shadow Paisley - This is a sheer yellow pressed glitter! I love this in my inner corners and on my lids!

Make Up Forever Artist Eye shadows - I just posted a review of these three shades, so do go check that out! But I use these three as a face pallet, and as eye shadows! 

Blushes/Cheek Products:

NARS Liberte - A satiny terracotta blush

NARS Sin - A berry blush with golden shimmer

Clinique Cola Pop - A dark satiny/sheeny reddish "flush" shade

ELF Contour Kit - a shimmery white, a matte banana, warm brown matte, matte cool brown

Little nick-knacks I keep in the lipstick compartments:

IT Cosmetics Super Hero Mascara - This is a great formula and brush! But it dries out quickly for me. 

L'oreal Voluminous Millions of lashes mascara - This gives me the BEST lashes I'v ever had!

MAC Brow Set Brown Ebony - My current favourite brow gel! It's tinted enough to add colour back to my brows, but holds well enough to set them in place! 

L'oreal Carbon Black liquid liner - My current opened liquid liner. 

Unknown glitter liner - I have less than a quarter left of this, it's a rainbow glitter in a clear gel.

Avon Always on Point Black liner - This is the BEST liner for my waterline! It lasts so long, and isn't painful or hard to apply. 

Sephora brand Liquid liner Life's a picnic - A green liquid liner with teal sparkles. I like it!

ELF Original Lip exfoliator - Self explanatory.

LUSH Santa Baby Lip tint - My HOLY GRAIL lipstick EVER!

This is everything I'v placed into my Acrylic organizer! I find I'm not reaching for anything else, or bringing out anything else from my makeup drawer. I'm planning to switch out my foundations/blushes/single shadows with the months/seasons! 

Make Up Forever Artist eye shadows in M-646, D-826, and ME-512 Review!

Hey all!! I hope everyone had a great holiday season!

I went out boxing day shopping today, and I picked up 3 full sized MUFE Artist shadows! I own 9 mini pans, from the Artist Pro 1 pallet, and fell in LOVE with the formula.

It's described as a gel/powder formula. It has a very soft, creamy, buttery texture. I'v seen someone describe them as silicone-y textured. And I can agree to that!!

They have AMAZING pigmentation. And for a crappy eye shadow blender like yours truly, they practically blend themselves!!

For application of the Mattes, I prefer to use a fluffy crease/blending brush and just swoosh them through my crease like I would a "normal" eye shadow.

For application of the shimmers/metallic's I 100% honestly prefer my fingers!! I'll take a clean finger, and pat the shade onto my brow bones, my inner corners, my outer corner, my lids, etc. And then i'll take a fluffy blending brush and just blend everything out!!

Left to right we have: M-646 (Matte light/medium warm brown) D-826 (Metallic reddish purple with sparkles) and ME-512 (Light shimmery gold!)

Uses i'v found for this shade:

Crease shade, Bottom lash line shade, Eye lid shade, Matte bronzer for my cheeks!

Uses i'v found for this shade:

Eye lid shade, Blended up into the crease, Lower lashline shade, Blush.

Uses i'v found for this shade:

Cheek highlighter, Brow bone shade, Eye lid shade.


Now onto swatches!!

Overall I'm in love with this formula, and these shades!!

The only thing I'm NOT in love with, is the $58 CAD price tag for these three bad boys!!

Current HG Base Routine!

I'v been testing different foundations and primers and concealers for YEARS! And I think i'v found a routine that works super super well for me!!

My skin tone: Light, NC23, with prominent yellow/warm undertones.
My skin type: Oily, Acne prone, Sensitive.

This is my base routine in order of use! As you'll notice most is high end, and that's because I can NOT find something light and yellow enough at the drug store, or stuff that works with my finicky skin!

Primers!!!

I do a primer "cocktail" So I'll use one of the Green primers patted onto my cheeks and fore head. I can't pick which one I like better, out of the ELF tone correcting primer, or the Hard Candy Colour Correcting primer. They are both A+ in my opinion!!

After patting the green primer into my skin, I'll squeeze out some Make Up For Ever Step 1 Mattifying primer and I'll lightly pat this into my fore head/nose/chin/inner cheeks to stop shine!

For Foundation:

I'll squeeze out a SMALL less than a dime sized dot of Make Up Forever Mat Velvet+ foundation (im in the shade #40) onto the back of my hand, then take a real techniques buffing brush and I'll dot this onto my skin then buff it in. This gives me just enough coverage to even out my skin and hide my red ness!!

Then I'll take the Kat Von D Lock it Concealer Creme, and i'll swipe it across the apples of both cheeks then take what's left over on the brush and dot that under my eyes, and i'll blend that all out. I'm in the shade Light11 in the concealer, and it's THE PERFECT shade for me. I can use this as foundation, just a dot or two around my face and buff out!!

For Powder: I love Sephora Brand Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in the shade 18 Golden Linen. It's yellow toned so perfect for me! And it's MATTE. I personally love a MATTE/FLAT base. And then add highlight in strategic places. Because of my oily skin! But this powder is amazing and I will be repurchasing!

For Setting spray: I'v tried all of the Urban Decay setting sprays and I hated them all. I used the Avon Setting spray for YEARS. Until I met Mist and Fix. I like to PACK on the powder, then just spray my face to take away the powdery look, and to add a hint of natural dew back to my skin. And this does exactly that!! My foundation NEVER fades or breaks down. I do get oily, but I'd rather blot then have oils trapped in my pores all day!

What's in my travel makeup bag?

I'm going off to Toronto in a few hours, and i'll be there until monday late afternoon. And while I'm there, I'll be doing some public speaking and all that jazz, so this is my "I want to look professional and alive" makeup!!

This is my travel makeup bag!! It's just a basic two story bag!! I like this bag, because it's big enough to fit my Z pallet, and it fits everything I need in it, it also has the top zippered part for my brushes to be safe and not all bent and beaten up!!

These are my face brushes I use every day, From left to right, we have a Buffing Brush for my foundation, a angled cheek brush for bronzer, a small flat foundation brush I use to pat out my under eye concealer, a fluffy blush brush, and a big powder brush!

These are my every day eye brushes!! From left to right: A angled fluffy for setting my eye primer/highlighting my brow bone, a fluffy blending brush, a smaller eye lid brush for the inner corner, a thin pencil brush for work on my hood, a bigger eye lid brush for my outer eye lid, an angled brow brush, and a spoolie!

I always keep cotton swabs in my travel makeup bag (i'm known to cough or sneeze while my mascara or liner is drying it's TRAGIC) I ALWAYS keep hand sanitizer with me every where, and my makeup bag is no exception! I have long, long hair. I keep 2 hair ties on my wrist every day, and I have at least two in every bag!!

Moving onto makeup! These are my tried and true primers. I use the elf green primer on my cheeks and on the edges of my nose to correct redness, then I pat the Makeup Forever mattifying primer onto my forehead, between the brows, nose, chin, and smile lines. I usually apply my eye primer while I do my face primer. So I'll squeeze out a small amount of Too Face Shadow Insurance and pat that onto my lids!

Here is my base products! I'm testing out the Maybelline Fit Me foundation stick, and I'm still not sure how I feel about it. I'm bringing my tried and true Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ Foundation. It oxidizes to a more orangey shade on me, but with blending it down my neck, and the way I keep my hair, its not noticeable. But I always mention that just in case! Then we have my favourite concealers! Maybelline Fit me, which I love for my cheeks. And Hard Candy Glamoflauge, which I use a PIN HEAD amount of to cover BOTH undereyes. Then we have my Sephora brand Matte Perfection Powder foundation, which I use to set my whole face!

This is my Z pallet, I'v recently spoken about this. So I wont get too in depth. But after setting my face, I'd go in with one of the blushes in here, and the highlights. I also go in and do eye shadow after I do my blush and highlighting!!

Next we have my two current mascaras! I'm using the Revlon one on my upper lashes, and the Makeup Forever one on my lower lashes! They both give me the drama I love, and neither smudge or flake!

This isn't anything special, y'all know my brow routine already. But I have my Essence Make me brow, and my Annabelle brow to go kit. Also, just in case because I'm wearing matte lipsticks, I threw in ELF lip exfoliator!

Lastly, we have the lip products i'm bringing!! I'm bringing my mint Jack Black lip balm, MAC Rebel, A Joe Fresh Lip gloss in Wine (It's a sheer tint!! Not super vampy at all!) Maybelline Colour blur in Plum me? I think that's the name. And LUSH's Santa baby which is my all time favourite lipstick!

Make Up For Ever FOTD

Good morning everyone!! I got three hours of sleep lastnight, and I have a SUPER busy day today, with FOUR appointments.

So I did my face to make me feel confident and happy today!! (I also had to Dentist approve it. Because I'm going back to the dentist for him to check on my teeth after the four root canals I had last week!)

This is my bare face this morning! I did a sheet mask lastnight, and I'v been VERY consistent with my skin care, so my bare skin is looking pretty darn good!!

This is the look, I used A LOT of Makeup forever products. I'm quickly turning into a HUGE MUFE fan!!

Base: I started with moisturized, and sunblocked skin. Then I took Hard Candy Green tinted primer, and I patted that all over my face. I then took a SMALL amount of Makeup Forever Step 1 Mattifying primer, and I patted that into my T zone/Center of my face. I let those primers set, then i took Makeup Forever Mat Velvet+ foundation, and I squeezed it out onto the back of my hand. Then I dotted that around my face, and took my Real Techniques Expert face brush, and I buffed that into my skin. Then Because I only got 3 hours of sleep, I took Covergirl clean concealer in Light, which is a SUPER SUPER pink concealer, and I dotted that under my eyes, and blended it out with my Real Techniques Contour brush, and then dotted Maybelline Fit me concealer in #20 Sand Sable which is a super yellow toned concealer that matches my skin!! I then took a fluffy brush and patted Sephora Brand Matte Perfection Powder foundation in the shade #18 Golden Linen all over my face to set. Lastly, I took MAC Mineralized skin finish in Light And I patted that under my eyes.

Cheeks: I used Smashbox Halo blush in Warm glow. Which is a nudey, mauvey matte blush on me! For highlight, I took Makeup Forever's eye shadow in ME-512 (A yellowy shimmery gold!) and buffed that along my cheek bones, my cupids bow, and my nose bridge!

Eyes: I started with ELF's Sheer eye primer. Then I set that with Sephora's Swan Song (Matte light light pink) Then I took Makeup Forever's S-556 (Matte light grey) and used that as a transition-esk shade. I then took Makeup Forever's D-652 (It's a shimmery reddish brown, with gold glitter in it!) And I really buffed that into my crease. I then took the same shade, and I patted it onto the outer half of my lids! I then took my ALL TIME FAVOURITE eye shadow, Makeup Forever D-562. It's so hard to describe this shade, It's like a super super shimmery, brightening, light taupey/silver? It's AMAZING. I want to buy a single full sized version of this! ANYWAY. I took D-562 and I patted that onto my inner 3/4 of my mobile lid, to brighten and add contrast to the dark warm brown on the outer corners! I then took a fluffy brush and just blended everything out so there was no lines. I took some of D-652 (The reddish shimmery/glittery brown) and buffed that along my lower lash line! I LASTLY took my Makeup Forever Excessive Lash mascara and did two coats of that on my upper and lower lashes!!

Brows: The usual! I took my Annabelle Brow to go, and stroked that through my brows, then I took Essence Make me brow and used that as a setting gel. And lastly took a spoolie and combed everything into place while the gel is setting.

Lips: I'm going to thedentist, so I cant REALLY wear lipstick, as it'll get everywhere. But I remembered I have this lip stain from NYC, their "Smooch proof liquid lip stain" This stuff is solid!! I really love it. It lasts and lasts!! And it's like, the same colour as my lips when they are moisturized and happy. So it just adds a bit of oomph!!
